Salut les parent!
As we near the end of our study on explorers and Indigenous peoples, enjoy a dialogue between Jacques Cartier and the Iroquois, showcasing their perspectives and a presentation on the advantages and disadvantages of each group, according to Ralph Waldo Emerson “For everything you gain, you lose something else”
Salut les parents!
What a productive month it has been! After the holidays,we delved into exploring various First Nations communities, learning about their culture and history while comparing different aspects such as food, beliefs, houses, clothing and roles within their societies. The students thoroughly enjoyed building their longhouses and sharing interesting facts during their presentations.
In French, we focused on adjectifs demonstatifs, articles definis et indefinis and the verbs aller, faire, pouvoir and vouloir. They also created their own story. I am truly impressed with their progress in reading and comprehension as well as their ability to acquire new vocabulary.

Salut salut chers amis,
It has been a fantastic first month with my amazing grade 5 Extended kids during which we got to know each other and learnt together. It is wonderful to see how engaged they are with both the language and social studies content. We started by reviewing the basic verbs AVOIR,ETRE,ALLER,they learnt vocabulary to describe their family’s character and appearance, they described Terry Fox and they wrote texts about the traditions of Rosh Hashanah. In social studies, we started exploring the First Nations and they completed their first quiz on the Anishinaabe with great results. I couldn’t be prouder of these kids’enthusiasm. Our next project is going to be on “Les Maisons longues”.
Attached are some pictures and a few videos of our activities.
