כַּבֵּד אֶת אָבִיךָ וְאֶת אִמֶּךָ

כַּבֵּד אֶת אָבִיךָ וְאֶת אִמֶּךָ, לְמַעַן יַאֲרִכוּן יָמֶיךָ עַל הָאֲדָמָה אֲשֶׁר אֱלֹהֶיךָ נוֹתֵן לָךְ ( שְׁמוֹת, פֶּרֶק כ’ פָּסוּק י”ב)

In this week’s Parashat Hashavua : Parashat Yitro, The Israélites receive the ten commandments.

This week, Grade 5 explored the concept of the fifth command:  respect your parents!

We started by writing all the things that our parents do for us ( and it was a lot!!!)

Next we discussed what it means to respect our parents, and shared examples on how we do it in daily life.

We ended up making a list of all the ways we can fulfill this command:

הַכָּרַת הַטּוֹב ( SEEING THE GOOD)

לְהַגִּיד תּוֹדָה ( SAYING THANK YOU)


הַקְפָּדָה עַל כְּלָלִים (COMPLIANCE WITH THE RULES)

הִתְחַשְּׁבוּת ( CONSIDERATION)

הֲבָנַת נְקֻדַּת הַמַּבָּט שֶׁלָּהֶם ( UNDERSTANDING OUR PARENTS PERSPECTIVE)

We concluded this learning with writing ( in Hebrew and English) thank you notes to our parents ( trying to be as specific as we can) to express our gratitude.
